The Samsung R7 was launched in 2011 as the Medison SonoAce R7. When Samsung purchased Medison later that year it continued developing the R7 and continues to produce it to this day, albeit in an improved form. The Samsung R7 is a reasonably priced diagnostic ultrasound system focused on women’s health applications. It features good 4D performance for the price. The SonoAce R7 was designed on the same platform as the SonoAce R5, but there are stark differences. Not only is the image quality much better than the R5, in 2D it also offers great 4D performance which is not available on the R5. The Samsung R7 also offers several midrange features such as the 19” monitor and Elastography that are not typically found on economy-priced ultrasound machines.

The Samsung Accuvix A30 is a Samsung upgrade to the already potent Accuvix XG and adds powerful high resolution 4D imaging meant to compete with GE’s “HD live” from the Voluson E6 & S8.

The Medison Accuvix V10 is an older midrange shared service ultrasound machine able to perform full cardiac and OB/GYN scans including 4D imaging. The Accuvix V10 is no longer in production.

The Samsung Accuvix XG was the top of the line system from Samsung prior to the release of the newer Accuvix A30. The XG was meant as a direct replacement to the popular Accuvix XQ as a shared service system capable of both 4D OBGYN images as well as full cardiac scans.

The Samsung HS40 is an economy multi-purpose diagnostic ultrasound system designed to cover a wide range of applications including obstetrics, abdominal, gynecology, pediatric, small organs, neonatal cephalic, adult cephalic, trans-rectal, trans-vaginal, MSK (conventional, superficial), urology, adult cardiac, and peripheral vessel.

The Samsung HS40, similarly to the HS60 and HS50, is empowered by the “S-Vision Imaging Engine” featuring 64 transmitting channels, and is equipped with a number of high performing hardware such as a 21.5″ LED monitor, a fully customizable 10.1″ LED touchscreen, 3 active probe ports (with a 4th as an option), convex and endocavity volume transducers (VN4-8, V5-9), and a broad bandwidth linear array transducer (LA3-16A). These transducers effectively cover a wide array of clinical requirements, thanks to their low to high bandwidth frequency coverage.

Realistic Vue is Samsung’s leading 3D/4D technology on the market, and is an outstanding fetal-maternal bonding tool similar to GE’s HDlive. The HS40 also supports the unique and automated 5D NT and 5D Follicle features along with XI STIC and 3D XI. These technologies will help enhance the physician’s diagnostic confidence during pre-gestation to pregnancy stages.

Although the Samsung HS40 is not targeting the cardiovascular market, it is still competitive as an economy system with Strain+ (Automated LH measurement based on 2D speckle strain technology), Auto IMT, cardiac S/W, TDI, and CW. Along with its wide range linear array transducer and its General Imaging features such as Elastoscan, Panoramic, and Needle Mate+, the HS40 adequately meets the fundamental requirements of interventional procedures.

The Samsung HS70A can support many applications including fetal, obstetrics, abdominal, gynecology, pediatric, small parts, neonatal cephalic, trans-rectal, trans-vaginal, MSK, urology, adult and pediatric cardiac, and peripheral vessel. The features of the HS70A allow for an in-depth OB/GYN practice, thanks to its top-tier 3D/4D technologies and automated functions that effectively reduce operational time and improve clinical workflow and productivity.

Since its merge with Samsung, the largest commercial electronics company, Samsung products have integrated Samsung’s advanced IT and semi-conductor based technologies. The Mysono U6 is an upgrade to the earlier U5 model by vastly improving the cardiac functionality of the system, making the U6 one of the few portable systems to offer true shared service with 4D OB/GYN and general imaging, and true CW Doppler and Cardiac reporting. The U6 is a smart and lightweight system with greatly ameliorated resolution that provides the most accurate clinical outcomes for quick and efficient work. The low price of the U6 matches the similar Mindray M7 while maintaining higher reliability over time.

The Samsung SonoAce R3 portable ultrasound machine is an easy to use, EMR-compatible OB/Vascular, GI system that provides one-touch image optimization & great connectivity at a fantastic value. The R3 replaced the popular Pico and was succeeded by the Mysono U5 but remains in production.

The Samsung SonoAce R5 is a slim economy ultrasound machine available in both black & white only, and color doppler versions. The R5 replaced the older SonoAce X6.

The Medison SonoAce X8 is the mechanical twin of the Philips HD9 with similar features but a different user interface and exterior design. It is a capable midrange women’s health ultrasound machine with 4D that is no longer in production.

The Samsung UGEO H60 is a high performance midrange ultrasound machine designed from the ground up by Samsung. Previously known as the UGEO H60, this system features productivity enhancements a touchscreen (rare at this price point), large LCD monitor and 4 active probe ports.

The Samsung UGEO HM70A is the first fully Samsung designed portable ultrasound machine and is the successor to the MySono U6. It is the only shared service portable ultrasound that offers both cardiac and 4D for OB/GYN and it does both very well. It is positioned at a midrange price point.

The Samsung UGEO PT60A is the first PoC dedicated handheld ultrasound machine made by Samsung. It is shaped like a tablet and has an easy to use interface. It has a great advantage over it’s competition with advanced needle enhancement, a full touch interface, and quick image optimization.
