Philips HD5 Ultrasound Machine
The Philips HD5 is an entry level economy shared service ultrasound machine. It has a flexible console that borrows many of the smooth workflow and ergonomic advantages of more expensive Philips units. The HD5 only offers a few probes, but has the option for full cardiac imaging in the most economical package Philips has ever made. Medical professionals that would like the reliability and features of a Philips unit but because of price constraints might be considering a less reliable brand should consider the HD5.

The Siemens Acuson X300 is a mid-range cardiovascular and shared-service ultrasound system. It was intended to replace the popular Sequoia 512 ultrasound, which is still sold by our partner Providian Medical. The Siemens X300 balances mid-range technology and features with an affordable price point. A refurbished Siemens Acuson X300 ultrasound costs between $15,000 and $25,000, depending on the age and condition of the system, its use history, and what additional transducers are included with the system. At Ultrasound Supply, our machines start out at the lower $15,000 range.
The Samsung R7 was launched in 2011 as the Medison SonoAce R7. When Samsung purchased Medison later that year it continued developing the R7 and continues to produce it to this day, albeit in an improved form. The Samsung R7 is a reasonably priced diagnostic ultrasound system focused on women’s health applications. It features good 4D performance for the price. The SonoAce R7 was designed on the same platform as the SonoAce R5, but there are stark differences. Not only is the image quality much better than the R5, in 2D it also offers great 4D performance which is not available on the R5. The Samsung R7 also offers several midrange features such as the 19” monitor and Elastography that are not typically found on economy-priced ultrasound machines.

Among those 28 transducers, the Canon Xario Platinum series support about 5 different intra-operative and biopsy enhancement transducers that can improve clinical productivity in interventional Radiology, and also are available motor-driven volume transducers for in-depth 3/4D Obstetrics and Gynecology applications.
The E-Cube 7 by Alpinion is positioned as a mid range unit with pricing lower than normal for a mid range system. Alpinion’s strength is in its high image quality, excellent high-spec proprietary probes, and long warranty. Its powerful 3D engines provide solid information on the health of pregnant women and their fetuses as well as gynecologycal diseases. The E-Cube 7 is small and light compared to other mid-range console systems.

The Canon Viamo is a high-end portable ultrasound machine for shared service application. It has the same imaging hardware and transducers as the high-end Aplio series. This gives the Viamo excellent image quality. Its fully programmable touch screen provides customizable access to imaging, quantification, and workflow functions.
The Mindray M9 is the top-of-the-line portable ultrasound machine from Mindray and builds on the previous M7 and M5 portables. It is based on Mindary’s new generation platform and single crystal probes which allows for better penetration and higher resolution. The M9 is targeted at the portable high-end cardiac market with full cardiac features, transducers (including TEE), and full measurement packages. It can be used about 90 minutes with the built-in battery and with a trolley mounted battery pack it lasts over 3.5 hours.

The Supersonic Aixplorer is the premier Elastography system available in Ultrasound today. Though it was not the first brand to offer Elastography, the major brands are trying to catch up with it’s proprietary ShearWave technology. This technology delivers impeccable image quality and enables ultrafast imaging and Doppler. Though the Aixplorer is a very specialized machine, it can do other general imaging, but is not as flexible as a Philips iU22, or Logiq E9 which also try to compete in this segment.
